The Scottish Shoppe (White Heather Imports Ltd.), established since 1971, is Calgary’s premier retail outlet for quality Scottish products. We specialize in providing Highland wear, both sales and rentals, for weddings and other special occasions. Our made-to-measure kilts use authentic 100% wool tartans imported directly from Scotland and tailored by our kilt maker here in Calgary. Our rental kilts are available in the Black Watch, Flower of Scotland and Royal Stewart tartans. We carry a full line of Prince Charlie and Argyll jackets, with other styles available to order. A full range of Highland wear accessories – from Ghillie brogues to glengarries, and everything in between – is readily available from stock. During your wedding ceremony, the altar can be highlighted, by incorporating a traditional design Scottish or Irish Celtic cross in the decor. We also carry a complete range of tartan ribbon in a variety of widths, ideal for incorporation in the bridal party bouquets and favours to give that Scottish touch to the occasion. (The ribbon can also be used to make a unique bride’s wedding garter, or we can supply one ready-made in a limited range of tartans.) The exchange of rings between the wedding couple can also be made unique with our Celtic design wedding bands, available in both 10 and 14 carat white or yellow gold. These rings are available either individually or as matched sets. For the personal gifts for the wedding party that say it all, we have a wide range of high quality gold, silver and pewter jewellery in traditional and modern patterns. A recent addition is a series from Ola Gorie of Kirkwall, Orkney, a fine craftswoman and one of Scotland’s leading innovative designers. Other giftware ideas include pewter and hand-cut crystal featuring brand names such as Edwin Blyde, Edinburgh Crystal, Edina Crystal and Collins Crystal. Edwin Blyde’s pewter line includes tankards, whisky flasks and quaichs, Scotland’s traditional cup of friendship, particularly suited to the bridal toasts. The crystal ware includes all kinds of bowls, vases, glasses and decanter sets appropriate for wedding gifts, including the traditional cake knife for the cutting of the cake. Edina Crystal produces engraved bride and groom champagne flutes, especially for the Scottish Shoppe.
