A belt and buckle is an appropriate finishing touch to a kilt. For evening wear, a black belt with a silver or chrome buckle is appropriate, but for day wear, a brown belt with a brass buckle is more suitable. The belt is threaded through the loops at the back of the kilt, but should not be pulled tight since it does not support the kilt. A loose fit is all that is required. The illustrations show a range of different belts and buckles.
